Title says it all.

Options:
T56 M-7003-G------purchased for $2318+$290 shipped from GEF racing.
DS (Custom or 03-04)----Purchased 03-04 $250 shipped from ebay.
Shifter MGW+dustboot----Purchased $197 shipped from mgwltd.com
Shift Knob-----Purchased $25 shipped from another mustang website parts forum.
Conversion Trans mount PTP-6-1608----$39.39 summitracing.com
Reverse lockout ACDelco PT249----$25.68 shipped from amazon.com
1330/1350 hybrid U-joint PCN-459---$28.99 summitracing.com NOT NEEDED, STOCK 98 is a 1310 U-joint!!
03/04 Pinion Flange M-4851-B--- $24.95 summitracing.com
Pilot Bearing M-7600-B---$16.39 summitracing.com ( I may ommit this from counting against the budget since It's not needed, just added precaution)

I'll use my 31 spline slip yoke if I go with the FRPP tranny or the 03 slip yoke if I use a 03/04 T56.
Looking for a deal on the T-56. I can get the FRPP for $2,1xx from GEFRACING but that would kill my cheapness....I mean frugalness. Looks Like I'm probably stuck with the 03/04 T56.

Let the deal hunting begin!!!!

THANKS TO NATER FOR OFFERING TO PICK UP MY TRANNY FOR ME WHILE DEPLOYED!!!!!!!!

Budget busted :( : $3229.91

I guess you meant under $3,000. Have you checked out the Viper spec T-56 from D&D? Also GM's used T-56s as well as other high end cars. I am not sure how different they are or if they are a direct fit. The best shifter is the MGW. If you prefer the Steeda TriAx let me know. I have one here for you to try out.

As far as I know Tremec makes the T-56s now which is a shame because Borg Warner Germany is a stone throw away from my house. I still have a feeling that there are tons of T-56 parts in the warehouses here.

Let me know if I can help.

Good luck and stay safe!!!

I ve got a T56 from D&D a couple of years ago.
The whole set was below 3k.
I might still have a aluminium driveshaft for sale, if Werner doesn't want it anymore.

HEY !! That is EXACTLY the swap I am doing, too!
Swapping a T56 into a '96 GT that has a '99 Cobra engine and '99 Cobra IRS.
How did you solve the speedo signal conversion problem?

If I go with the electric signal then I'll have to use an extended range speedcal from Dallasmustangs.com. If I use the M-7003-G then I can just use my mechanical speedo.

I would have asked if you could order two of them, and we split the shipping cost?
Never mind, seems it's too late now anyway.

Sorry Werner, I'm in Iraq anyway so when it did make it to me you would still have to wait on me to mail it from here and it takes FOREVER for mail to arrive. I usually have waited 3-4 weeks for stuff and everyone in my unit from Germany is saying that it is taking them 2 weeks to get stuff home in the mail so you could be looking at up to 1-1/2 months that way.

I'm sure somebody could offer to help you out that is in Germany

Yes and no; I'm sure that you can bolt a chevy one to a ford specific bellhousing but there are differences in the input shaft length, diameter, etc. I don't know all of the specifcs because they don't fit my application. A search should give you some general info.

Not if you actually DO sell the leftover parts.
The tricky bit is when people assume they can sell stuff instantly and at a high price, and it turns out a sale takes much longer and happens at a much lower price.
If you figure in values for removed parts, calculate VERY conservatively.

I spoke to them in the beginning but with shipping it came out to around $3,500.
I understand on what you're saying on the time but look at it this way. I would still have to buy a shifter since it only came with a stock style shifter so that would put me around $3,700. I'm trying to get this done for around $3000, so hopefully I'll save myself $700.

How much time is $700 worth to you?

Besides, I enjoy doing the research on it and it takes up some of the free time I have in the evenings while deployed.

I was looking at the D&D packages for a project remote in the future, too...
But then I came across a used T56 plus a quick, cheap and convenient way of getting it here, and from that point on it all happened very quickly.
(thanks to those who made this happen, you know who you are :nice:
